House Rules

PhotoCraft is a hall for original photographs. You may hang your own work, write field notes about the craft, leave honest comments, and sell prints of work you made.

You may not hang nude photographs. You may not post sexual content of anyone under eighteen. You may not post porn. You may not hang images made by artificial intelligence. You may not hang photographs that were enhanced by artificial intelligence in a way that invents things that were not in front of the lens. You may not hang work you did not make. You may not bully, harass, threaten, or hound anyone off the site. PhotoCraft decides what that is. You may not impersonate another person. You may not post someone’s private address, phone number, or other private facts in order to harm them. You may not spam the hall. You may not use the hall for a scam, a fraud, a theft, or any other crime.

Swearing is filtered.

Crime is reported to the police. Files and account records are locked and handed over when the law requires it. Sexual content of anyone under eighteen is locked at once so no one can see it.

If something on the site does not belong, use Report.

Viewing file

Use a JPEG in sRGB. The long edge should be about 2,500 to 3,200 pixels. That is large enough for a television and for the hall, and small enough that the page stays fast. Save at high quality, about 80 to 90. A viewing file over eight megabytes is too heavy for the hall. The print master is not this file.

Print file

The print file is the master the lab or the artist uses to make the print. It is never shown on the site. Send the file the printer asked for: a TIFF or a high-quality JPEG, in the color space the lab requires, often Adobe RGB or the lab profile, at the resolution the lab requires for the largest print you offer. Do not downsample a print master to web size. Do not upload the viewing JPEG as the print file if you intend to sell.
